Emerging technology are indeed astounding! With ball-point pens that could record your every stroke into digital text file, applications that could instantly solve math problems and now, for the designers, an app that would turn sketches to manipulable vectors.
In partnership with Adobe Creative Cloud, Moleskine Smart Notebook could now allow designers to draw their sketches and turn it to full digital vector files via click of a button (technically). Sources revealed that the said notebooks have special alignment indicators printed on the corners of the Smart Notebook which then helps the application to better convert the file to full manipulable vectors. It is claimed and reported that the converted files will become vectors after the photo has been taken which will produce both .jpg and .svg files for use in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
In their YouTube video, the captured photo was instantly converted and transferred for editing then to printing without much work. Since this came from Adobe which is known for their products especially when it comes to photo manipulation and creative solutions in designing, we could definitely say that this is not a hoax. The video uploaded was also dated November 20 making this a huge and recent announcement for non-techie artists that wanted to go digital.
The Smart Notebooks are priced at $24.95 in their website while exporting are yet to be announced and currently, the application is only available in iOS.
