Based on Google Play, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) released a new Android Application and was recently updated last October 7, 2014 named MMDA Accident Alerts.
The said app is able to update users of traffic, road accidents and flood situations on the major roads of Metro Manila though a clear distinction was not stated from the MMDAs original and primary released app which is the MMDA for Android.
Upon looking at the capabilities and display of the application, its more like the difference between the two could be distinguished base on the way of reporting. The primary application displays more of a road map and its current situation while the newly released MMDA Accident Alerts has an option to display the maps while in different tabs, it presents a notification like update and a Twitter connected list of updates.
The major roads that will be covered by this app will be EDSA, Commonwealth, Quezon Ave., Espaa, C5, Ortigas, Marcos Highway, Roxas blvd., SLEX and NLEX.
In its current status, the app now reached 1,000 - 5,000 downloads but has only received 17 reviews resulting to a current star rating of 4.3. The app also claims to update the users about road re-blockings which was displayed like notifications inside the app.
The information supplied by the app was said to originate from the MMDAs network and was gathered through their Closed Circuit Television cameras (CCTV) and through the MMDAs personnel reports.
An iOS version has yet to be released though a specific date hasnt been announced.
